08.02.2013 celebrates its third birthday today!                                                                               8.02.2013

Today is the third anniversary of - the organisation established in Amsterdam to coordinate the European Grid Infrastructure on behalf of its participants.

On its third year, will continue to support the European grid computing community to connect researchers from all disciplines with the reliable and innovative ICT services they need for thei research.

Here are some highlights of the past year:

  • We organised two events - the Community Forum in Munich and the Technical Forum in Prague
  • We launched the EGI Federated Cloud Task Force to work with the community to develop a ‘blueprint’ for EGI resource centres who wish to securely federate and share their local virtualised environments externally with collaborators as part of the production infrastructure
  • We launched the EGI Champions scheme to support enthusiastic scientists using grid computing for their research and keen to go to conferences and spread the word about the benefits of working with EGI
  • We continued to promote EGI research with case studies and the Stories from the Grid video series
